Food & Friends - Once a month we lend a hand to support their efforts to provide nutritional meals to home bound individuals living with HIV/AIDS. Serving about 1000 clients, 3 meals a day on a Hot Meal and Groceries-to-Go programs, volunteers prepare, pack, and distribute food and moral support over a 7800 square mile region of the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia area. Food & Friends is a beneficiary of the Washington DC AIDS Ride, one that team members have participated 16 times.
"Food & Friends envisions a Washington, DC community united to defeat the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Our nonprofit and volunteer-led work is essential to achieve this vision by providing healthy, nutritious meals as part of a comprehensive treatment and caring response for all affected by HIV/AIDS. Our work will continue until the epidemic is over."
