Thanks to Chaz, Team DC had ten riders on the North Central Rail Trail adventure on Sunday. Al, Chaz & Jane, John, Kathy, Kelly & Steve, Ron, and Wally & Mary Ellen (Happy Anniversary you two), rode almost 20 miles to and from New Freedom, PA where the desire for food and beer consumption halted any further northern progress. (Accept for Smokin, Al, who was far ahead and patiently waited an hour and half at our originally planned lunch spot - Mamma's Pizza. On the way up we were treated to lovely views of Gunpowder Falls River where fallen autumn leaves were floating downstream as well as scattered across the trail. We stopped for a group shot at a waterfall lookout next to the CAUTION POISONOUS SNAKES, sign and at a small farm where we posed by two Highland Cattle. Red, shaggy, long horned, small bodied and originally from Scotland. Take a look at a not so small Bully....

We lunched at the Colonial Hotel and Tavern where the beer was cold and the cheese fries were hot. Half way through, lunch and the third pitcher of Yingling Premium Lager, we spotted Al heading south on the trail and pulled him in for some potato soup. Was it the cheese fries or the beer that made our return trip so much speedier? Probably the incline in our favor did it. A good time was had by all. We may have to make a multi ride out of this trail next year. Guess who was back first? We'll have some pictures on the web site soon.
