Sunday's first-ever ride with BikeTeamDC was a great success!

Two Babes and a Magnet met up early with five outstanding riders from BikeTeamDC to ride 21+ miles on the W&OD into a brisk wind to Purcellville
for the promised pancakes (and waffles and bacon and biscuits and gravy and sausage and oatmeal and omelets at the White House Cafe and oh boy weren't we thusly fortified for the 21-mile return ride). No wonder that inline- skater who dogged us coming and going-- doing 50 miles RT--was able to beat us!)

Smokin' Al, who biked alot like Lance--very fast--on his Lance Armstrong Trek led the advance team (including an Elvis- impersonator and Van the Sausage Gravy Man) and arranged a table and coffee for the rest of us upon our arrival. The rest of us were somewhat slowed by the sudden appearance of a yellowjacket, who found a warm spot under Elisa's bike jersey--no doubt confused by the other Yellowjacket on our trip (Jim S, splendidly turned out in all yellow & black to compliment his extremely yellow & black bike). BikeTeamDC's Nurse Claudia administered first aid while Dr. John recorded the double- stinger's efforts on film for medical posterity, and Elisa aptly earned her new nickname, Stinger Babe.

BikeTeamDC regaled us with tales of the Alaska AIDS ride they rode in near-blizzard conditions last August and we all shared stories of great rides past and future.

We've granted Magnetic Status to the men of BikeTeamDC, have inducted Nurse Claudia as an honorary Babe, and hope to ride again with them very soon.

(Did I mention that a great time was had by all? If we forgo discussion of that other unmentionnable catastrophe Sunday afternoon, that is.)
