Botanical Gardens Ride
Team DC was on the road, intown and garden bound on Saturday, June 22nd, all for an ear and eyeful of natural beauty courtesy of biking buddy, Wally, "Mr. Green Thumb," Reed, conservator of the Botanical Gardens. Down the Capital Crescent Trail, 13 riders rode to the base of the Capitol Building to enjoy our exclusive Team DC event. Wally treated us to a VIP tour from the deep underground utilities to the overhead canopy catwalk. Two floors below are tanks, pipes, pumps, air handlers, miles of electric and valves, switches and gauges galore that coordinate to create things like reverse osmosis water, (RO for short) and Ultraviolet Sterilization. All of this is part of the 4 year, $33.5+ million renovation. Wally answered all of our botany inquires and gave us home gardening remedies too. Thanks for a great tour Wally! We all thoroughly enjoyed it.

Educated and refreshed, we headed off the National Barbecue Battle cook off on Pennsylvania Avenue for a quick look and then on to Georgetown for a Dean & Deluca lunch. Great ride-great day! In attendance were; Chaz & Jane, Ron & Karen with friend Brian, Mike and Nadine with neighbor Tom, Kelly & Steve, Mike Spekter, and John & Claudia.
