With he weather we had Sunday, I wish rain was forecasted every weekend. It was perfect! Puffy clouds floated gently over rolling hills doted with peach trees in bloom, a pink haze of peach crop promise. Six of us started out - Al, John, Kathy, Mike, Ron, Steve (Smokin Al, Johnny B, Angel Eyes, Mercury Man, Elvis, and Eagle Eye). Bob of Bob's Bikes visited our launch site bringing over an air pump on his motorized scooter. Just a few miles out we were joined by another rider, Brace, who was quick to set a pace only Al and Steve could meet. The moderate paced crowd found Al waiting for us at mile 11.5. One missed turn separated Johnny B from the crowd. Steve and Brace found me having a sandwich at the Boyds Country Store. Together we finished the ride back to Poolesville, and were joined once again by those who deviated from the suggested route. 40 miles sort of. Thanks to Steve for the cold Yoo-hoo, it was a great finish to a great days ride. For those who hadn't eaten, we stopped at the wrap joint with the health club attached for a light lunch. Ron bought, thanks buddy, the Jet Tea, ginkgo, ginseng laced smoothie was a real treat! Kathy, I'm sending you that Yoo-hoo bandanna. We are looking at the MS training ride out of Leesburg for Sunday, the 21st. More details later. |
